About AXOmega

We build the digital systems your business actually runs on — and connect them so they work together.

AXOmega is a technology company that works closely with business owners to design, build, and connect the digital systems their operations run on — from a business website to the software running the back office.

Our mission
Our mission is to make powerful technology practical and accessible for growing businesses — building and connecting websites, software, automation and AI into systems that remove friction, simplify work, and help businesses do more with less.

Not an agency. A technology partner.

Most businesses don’t need a bigger website or a shinier brochure — they need systems that work together. That’s why AXOmega sits at the intersection of web development, e-commerce, custom software, automation, and systems integration.

We combine traditional web-development expertise with modern software engineering, automation, and AI-assisted development. That combination lets us build things that were previously only realistic for businesses with large in-house teams or big consultancy budgets.

We’re deliberately small. That isn’t a limitation — it’s how we stay direct, flexible, and close to your business.

We’re built to work at a distance. Whether you’re down the road or across the world, the work happens the same way — online discovery calls, shared workspaces, and open updates throughout. Distance isn’t a reason we can’t build something great.

Why small works
  • Direct communication — you deal with the people actually building your system.
  • Flexible development — requirements change as you learn; we build around that.
  • Less bureaucracy — no account managers, no ticket queues, no phone tree.
  • Close understanding — we learn how your business actually operates before we build.
  • Custom exploration — if your process needs something bespoke, we can build it.
Our philosophy

Technology should remove friction from your business — not add to it.

The point of a website, an online store, or an internal tool isn’t to look modern. It’s to make it easier for customers to buy and easier for your team to work. We measure our work by whether it does that.

We also believe in honesty about scope. Some things don’t need software. Some tools you already have are fine. We’ll tell you what’s worth building, what’s worth buying, and what’s worth leaving alone.

And we build for the long term. Systems that are designed to connect — today and as your business grows — stay useful instead of becoming the next problem to replace.

Who we work with

Growing businesses that have outgrown the manual way.

  • Small and medium-sized businesses
  • Retailers and e-commerce businesses
  • Service businesses that run on quotes and bookings
  • Companies with outdated or underperforming websites
  • Businesses managing important workflows in spreadsheets
  • Teams juggling several disconnected SaaS tools
  • Businesses curious about AI but unsure where it applies
  • Companies that need software without a development team
  • Businesses anywhere in the world — we deliver entirely online, from first call to launch and beyond
What working with us looks like

A process designed to keep you in control.

  1. Tell us what’s not working

You describe the problem in plain language — the process that’s manual, the tool that doesn’t fit, the time being wasted. No technical spec needed.

  2. Work out the right approach

We map the simplest useful solution — build it, buy it, or connect what you already have — and agree the first step before anything is built.

  3. See it take shape

We build in small working stages you can see and use, so it’s never a surprise and never needs to start over.

  4. Connect it to your business

We integrate it with the tools you already use, so it works as part of your operation rather than beside it.

  5. Improve it as you grow

We measure how it performs, refine it, support it, and expand it as your business evolves.

Built and run by John Hay

20+ years hands-on experience Grad. Dip. Software Development — MIT (NZ) British national · Auckland, NZ — 20+ years

John is the owner-operator behind AXOmega and the person you’ll work with from first call to launch. A British national — a fluent, native English speaker — residing in Auckland, New Zealand for 20+ years, he has spent 20+ years hands-on building the kinds of digital systems businesses actually run on — from early web applications and e-commerce to custom business software, integrations and, more recently, automation and AI-assisted development — and holds a Graduate Diploma in Software Development from MIT (NZ).

That breadth matters. Most projects cross the boundary between “website”, “software” and “systems”, and John’s background keeps the work in one place — strategy, build and connection — without handing you between teams. He works directly with owners and operators, maps how the business really operates, and builds in small, useful stages.

AXOmega is deliberately small and remote-first. You get direct access to a fluent English-speaking owner-operator working from New Zealand, plain-English advice about what’s worth building, buying or leaving alone, and software designed to stay useful as you grow — whether you’re in New Zealand or on the other side of the world.

From someone who has seen the work

AXOmega, led by John Hay, is Auckland-based with clients worldwide, building and connecting the websites, e-commerce platforms, software and business systems growing companies run on, with AI woven directly into delivery rather than bolted on afterward.

John worked for me as an Integration Developer about a decade ago; the operator he’s become since is the real story. He represents a new breed of tech supplier, and his grasp of the fundamentals, at the stage AXOmega is at, is ahead of plenty of far more established firms.
